Useful Facts?
Courtesy of my brother-in-law John:
These have been around before – a number of times, but at my time of life with my memory I’ve almost forgotten them – and they are funny – I wanna be a pig too!!!
Useful Facts
If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.
(Hardly seems worth it.)
If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.
(Now that’s more like it!)
The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet.
(O.M.G.!)
A pig’s orgasm lasts 30 minutes.
(In my next life, I want to be a pig.)
A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death. (Creepy.)
(I’m still not over the pig.)
Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour
(Don’t try this at home, maybe at work)
The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male’s head off.
(Honey, I’m home. What the………….?!)
The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It’s like a human jumping the length of a football field.
(30 minutes… Lucky pig! Can you imagine?)
The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.
(What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?)
Some lions mate over 50 times a day.
(I still want to be a pig in my next life…quality over quantity)
Butterflies taste with their feet.
(Something I always wanted to know.)
Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people.
(If you’re ambidextrous, do you split the difference?)
Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump.
(Okay, so that would be a good thing)
A cat’s urine glows under a black light.
(I wonder who was paid to figure that out?)
An ostrich’s eye is bigger than its brain.
( I know some people like that.)
Starfish have no brains.
(I know some people like that too.)
Polar bears are left-handed.
(If they switch, they’ll live a lot longer)
Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure.
(What about that pig??)
Hope you’ve smiled at least once or even had a chuckle.
Birthday
My sister-in-law Wendy put together a fabulous meal for my sister Gerrie’s upcoming birthday (July 5); she’s on the right and is the oldest of the girls. My younger sister is in the middle. And, of course, there’s myself.
We also have three brothers. Click on this pic to go to Flickr to see brother Henry with Gerrie. The order of the clan is: Henry, Gerrie, Herman, Ed, Carla, Mary.
Last BBQ at Larry & Bonnie’s
This is the last year that Larry & Bonnie will be hosting a BBQ for their friends and acquaintances. They have been at it for about 10 years or so and decided it’s time to retire from the event.
This year we had roast pig, one of my favourites; and from the amount that was disappearing from the piglet, everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you Larry & Bonnie for another grand feast!
before – we had 4 trees
Looks pretty nice, doesn’t it? I was quite pleased with the effect…well, click on the pic and look and what it looks like chopped down!
And never mind how horrid it looks, when they took down the trees they managed to break two of the concrete borders, so we had to replace them; and the entire bed of flowers if covered in wood shavings!! Why in the world couldn’t they have done it before people put in gardens.
Ours was not the only site to have trees cut down. I realize dead trees need to come down but it would have been nicer if they took them down before people came into the park; they had plenty of time as they are closed all winter until May 1! Grrrrrrrr!!!!
Birthday Weekend
We spent most of the weekend, off and on, at Larry & Bonnie’s new cottage they purchased at the park we are staying in.
It was Rick’s birthday on the the 24th, he turned 65, officially now a senior for Canada Pension. Bonnie’s birthday is on the 26th so we partied the weekend away celebrating both. Henry (my brother) & Wendy (Rick’s sister) arrived on Friday evening. Bonnie is also Rick’s sister. I know, I know, sounds very complicated!
We had spaghetti & garlic bread for Friday night. Went out for breakfast on Saturday morning. Attended a craft show in Thorold after breakfast. Then did some garage saling on the way back home. Played Hillbilly Golf in the afternoon.
The stairs need to be attached to the new sun room, took some time to do that. Dinner was beef tenderloin with all the fixings. Brunch on Sunday morning was probably the most delicious. Bonnie made a mixed salad with barbequed salmon and hard-boiled eggs. Look at the pictures, it was a scrumptious salad; a keeper for sure.
And that was the birthday weekend, everyone had a great time!
Our Ontario site
This is where we are for the summer at a placed called N.E.T. Campground. There are a couple hundred sites and a nice lake to canoe on or fish if you like. It’s a very nice place, about 20 minutes from Niagara Falls. see www.netcampingresort.com
The deck was made up of 3 used pieces of deck that we were able to purchase from the park that someone had left. We noticed it in the workshop area and inquired whether we could buy them. We actually got 4 pieces, a smaller piece was used to erect the shed on,which is set up behind the 5th wheel.
They were brought over in 4 pieces and then we had to figure out the layout; and if I may say so, the design was created by none other than me! That was the easy part; Rick then had to lag bolt everything together. Still not quite done with the steps (front &back) but getting there.
We had purchased a gazebo before leaving Yuma thinking we were saving lots dollars but as it turned out, not really. Could have picked up one similar or better for about the same price.
(for those of you who forget, Mary, click on the above pic, takes you to all the other pictures)
It’s departure time
Well, it’s our last day here. Carpets are gone, awnings are gone, and I’m about to tear out the garden…boo hoo!
We’ve had an active few days getting ready for the trip back to Ontario. Managed to get in a day with Lynn & Lori for some shopping and, of course, pedicures.
The trip home will be done with much haste as we’re supposed to be back in Ontario on the 19th but the weather for travel has not been desirable. It’s looking a bit better but I believe we’ll have some nasty days to go through.
Reo will be happy to be in cooler weather, he spends most of the day inside the trailer with the air conditioning on as it’s unbearable for him outside.
Park Desertion
Since about the middle of March there has been a quick exodus from the park. Now we can see from one end of the park to the other. Our row is about the fullest of them all. Two sets our friends, Lynn & Tom and Lori & John, are in our row. We spend time together playing billiards, going out for dinner, and going to the casino.
Lynn & Tom have 2 dogs and 2 cats. The two dogs and one cat are rescued animals. Lucky was picked up in Mexico; he was skin and bones at the time they found him. A very affectionate dog. Totis, not sure of her story, but she’s friendly with people but not other dogs; Lynn calls her The Bitch.
Lori & John have two dogs; rescued Greyhounds, extremely friendly, very nice dogs.
Last night we had a pot luck dinner in the rec hall. The entire park, those still around, were invited. Started out with just a few couples going over to Clarence & Pat’s place for pot luck and Karaoke but it ended up being too windy to sit outside.
Next plan, let’s see if we can use the hall. The owner said yes, that was okay, but on that condition that everyone left in the park should be invited. How they were told in such a short amount of time was astonishing. I think there must have been around 160 people.
So the final dinner was a great time and yes, of course, I got up to sing although not by myself. There were four of us that sang the coke commercial “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing”…hmm…that should be myself as well, cause I really can’t! Oh well, it’s fun regardless.
We’re on our way back to Ontario some time next week. Waiting for a parcel to arrive and waiting for the weather to get a bit better there before we head back.
